Reduced trials for Small Claims from over one year to less than six months
from the filing date. Backlogs in the criminal docket have also been significantly reduced.
Implemented a juvenile case management program, the first justice court in
Travis County to do so. I have delivered on my promise to make school attendance a priority. I am working with school
administrators to keep kids in school.
Initiated a legislative change to reduce transactions for accepting funds
in criminal cases. My legislation was endorsed by Travis and Tarrant Counties, the County Judges and Commissioners Association
of Texas, the Texas Conference of Urban Counties, and the Texas Justice of the Peace and Constables Association. The
bill was passed and signed by the Governor.
Bus service to the Precinct 3 offices began in August 2008. I worked
with Austin City Councilman Mike Martinez and State Representative Valinda Bolton to have a traffic signal installed that
was a prerequisite for service.
